Spicy Reuben Sandwich

A tongue-tingling take on the classic New York deli, the Spicy Reuben sandwich features Korean chilli pickled mayo and crispy sourdough bread.

Ingredients

  • 200g Pastrami
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • butter
  • 125g or 1/2 cup sauerkraut
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 2 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 1 large pickle, sliced
  • 2 tbsp Korean Chilli Pickle Mayo

Instructions

  • Heat a sandwich press or a frying pan on the stovetop. Combine all Korean Chilli Oickle Mayo ingredients and set aside (recipe here)
  • Butter both pieces of bread. Turn the bread over and on the non-buttered side spread each side with Korean Chilli Pickled Mayo.
  • Now start the layering: Start with a slice of cheese, followed by the pastrami, then the sauerkraut, pickles and finally the other slice of cheese.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up, and toast in a pan or sandwich press until golden brown.
