Light refreshing cocktail using Japanese saki
The sake martini, or saketini, can be made with either gin or vodka and is very similar to a traditional martini. The sake replaces vermouth but gives its own unique flavour enhancing the martini to a more flavorsome experience.
Every brand of sake has its own individual taste so experimenting with different types will produce slightly different results each time, as will experimenting with various gin and vodka brands.
Garnish
There are a number of options for garnish depending on whether you like sweet, savory or sour tastes. Cucumber and green olives give the most classic cooling experience. For a hit of zing add lemon or lime peel. And for those with a sweet tooth drop in a delicious maraschino cherry or whole lychee.
