What makes an amazing burger?
The right balance of textures, flavours and measurements. Too much meat and not enough sauce will end in a dry chewy unsatisfying burger. Too much sauce and all other ingredients will be smothered. In this Bacon Jam Cheese Burger recipe, a fatter 200g beef patty is used to balance out the richness of bacon jam and burger sauce. It’s important to use a firm brioche bun so it can hold the weight of ingredients together.
How to make bacon jam for burgers
Bacon jam is a bacon-based relish both salty and sweet consisting of bacon, caramelised onions, sugar and vinegar and a few other key ingredients (recipes vary according to its use). It has the thick sticky consistency of jam and a satisfying chewy texture from the crispy cooked bacon pieces inside. Click here for Flaevors Bacon Jam with BBQ Sauce recipe
The Ultimate Burger Sauce
This is a sauce to fall back on again and again. Its perfect balance of mayonnaise and mustard is offset by tangy pickled cucumbers and dashes of hot sauce which pairs so well with beef, chicken or pork burgers. Click here for The Ultimate Burger Sauce Recipe:
3-Cheese-Mix for the ultimate melt over your beef burger patty
Also known as ‘Tex-Mex’ cheese (used on tacos, nachos and burgers), a blend of white cheddar, red cheddar and mozzarella are used to give a mouth-watering ooze and colour to the cheese when melted. Other cheeses can be substituted such as Monterey Jack or Swiss Appenzeller for a stronger flavour.
