Wake up to a comforting bowl of porridge
The best thing about breakfast porridge is how many different toppings can be added, therefore this Apple Date Coconut Porridge with Toasted Almonds is a bit of a fancy bowl indeed.
Apple Butter Porridge
Apple butter is a thick jam-like spread made with apples and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. In this recipe, Sweet and Savoury Apple Date Sauce is used to dollop on top and blend into the porridge, giving a warming and luxurious taste. Cooking the oats with coconut milk adds a rich creamy texture that is truly unbeatable when paired with apple butter.
How to make Sweet and Savoury Apple Date Sauce
Apples are oven roasted in a little butter until caramelized, then blended with Medjool dates and a little ginger to balance the sweetness. The result is a rich thick caramel-like sauce (or apple butter) that can be used in a variety of both sweet and savoury dishes. Get the recipe for Sweet and Savoury Apple Date Sauce here:
