Quick tomato sauce
Then this Magic Tomato Sauce recipe is the answer! Not only for those who love eating more than cooking but also for chefs and passionate home cooks that just want to enjoy an instant flavour boost every now and then with minimal preparation and effort.
Taking advantage of prepared ingredients
The secret to making this sauce so delicious is quite simple – Garlic and onion powder and dried oregano are blended into high-quality Italian tomato passata. There is no preparation time and within 5 – 10 minutes of heating, the flavours are combined and ready to eat, creating an instantly delicious sauce.
What is Tomato Passata?
Passata is a prepared tomato sauce made with fresh tomatoes strained from seeds and skins and blended into a puree (a sauce, not a condensed puree). Originally from Italy (known as passato and passata di pomodoro) but now used throughout the world.
Why use passata?
As it requires far less cooking time, passata is a quick and easy alternative to canned whole tomatoes making it perfect for pizza, pasta, soups, sauces, and stews. The texture can range from smooth to chunky depending on the brand and some will contain added spices and herbs such as garlic or basil for extra flavour.
Good healthy instant flavour – Garlic and Onion Powder
There is a misconception about dried powdered garlic and onion. Often it’s written that garlic and onion powder is a ‘processed’ product and inferior to fresh garlic or fresh onions which is ‘natural’, however, this is technically incorrect as garlic and onion powder is natural.
How is garlic powder made?
The process of peeling fresh cloves and onions, slicing them thinly, drying them to remove water content and then grinding them down into granules or a powder is an ancient technique used in vegetable and fruit preservation. To learn more about garlic powder and how its made click here
