Featuring Homemade Bacon Jam and The Ultimate Burger Sauce

The Bacon Jam Cheeseburger is an exciting collision of textures and flavours. It starts with a brioche bun smothered in The Ultimate Burger Sauce and crispy lettuce leaves, followed by a juicy 200g beef patty. A blend of 3 cheeses is melted onto the meat before being topped with sliced tomato and an addictive sweet and salty bacon jam with BBQ sauce. All the layers of flavour needed to satisfy every taste category – sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami.

Sweet – Homemade bacon jam, a ‘savoury & sweet marmalade’
Sour – Pickled cucumbers and their juice in a mustard-mayo sauce
Salty – Salty beef patty and bacon bits inside the jam
Bitter – Slightly Bitter crunch cos lettuce
Umami – The combination of tomato, cheddar cheese and bacon

How to Make the Ultimate Bacon Jam Cheeseburger

There are two key elements to making this burger: the bacon jam and the ultimate burger sauce. The bacon jam combines crispy bacon with caramelised onions, sugar and vinegar to create a savoury-sweet relish that adds depth to the burger. The ultimate burger sauce, a blend of mayonnaise, mustard, pickles and a hint of hot sauce, provides a tangy contrast that complements the richness of the bacon jam. Together they create a burger experience that is both indulgent and satisfying.

The Perfect 3-Cheese Blend for an Irresistible Melt on Your Beef Burger Patty

Also known as ‘Tex-Mex’ cheese (used in tacos, nachos and burgers), a blend of white cheddar, red cheddar and mozzarella is used to give the cheese a mouth-watering ooze and colour when melted. Other cheeses can be substituted, such as Monterey Jack or Swiss Appenzeller for a stronger flavour.

Bacon Jam Cheeseburger

Fat 200g juicy beef mince patty, bacon jam, burger sauce, lettuce and tomato packed into a brioche bun. 
Cook Time20 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 1 large firm brioche bun
  • 200g high quality beef mince
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Sea salt flakes and cracked black pepper
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • 2 Cos lettuce leaves
  • 1 -2 slices of tomato
  • Handful of 3 Cheese mix – equal parts grated mozzarella, white cheddar and red cheddar

  • 2 heaped tbsp of Bacon Jam with BBQ Sauce Recipe here
  • 2 heaped tbsp of The Ultimate Burger Sauce Recipe here

Instructions

  • Mix minced beef, onion powder, garlic powder, hot sauce, salt and pepper and form into a burger patty slightly larger than your bun.
  • Toast inside of both brioche buns.
  • Fry the patty in the oil over a medium heat until nicely browned. Turn and fry for a further 30 seconds before adding the cheese. Cover and allow the cheese to melt completely.
  • On the bottom brioche bun, spread the ultimate burger sauce. Top with lettuce, beef and cheese patty and tomato. Spread the inside of the top bun with bacon jam and place on top of the burger.
