Spicy Reuben Sandwich

A tongue-tingling upgrade on the class New York Deli classic the Spicy Reuben Sandwich features Korean Chilli Pickled Mayo and crunchy sourdough bread

Ingredients

  • 200g Pastrami
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • butter
  • 125g or 1/2 cup sauerkraut
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 1 small pickled cucumber / Gherkin
  • 2 Tbsp Korean Chilli Pickle Mayo

Instructions

  1. Heat a sandwich press or a frying pan on the stovetop. Mix together sauce ingredients.
  2. Butter both pieces of bread. Turn bread over and on the non-buttered side spread each piece with Korean Chilli Pickled Mayo.
  3. Now start layering: First lay down one slice of cheese, followed by the Pastrami, then sauerkraut, pickles and top with the other slice of cheese.
  4. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing up and grill in frying pan or sandwich press until golden brown.
